Seminar Success

On Thursday 20th June 2013, the Wills and Probate Department at Grant Saw Solicitors LLP, in conjunction with Grant Saw Wealth Management Limited held an extremely successful seminar which was full to capacity, entitled “FAN-TASTIC!” at the graceful Fan Museum on Crooms Hill in Greenwich.

Ray Crudgington (Managing Partner and Head of the Wills and Probate Department) introduced the seminar which covered several topics, including Inheritance Tax lifetime planning, Lasting Powers of Attorney, post-death Inheritance Tax issues, Intestacy and Deputyship Orders.

William Meakin (Consultant Solicitor) discussed Inheritance Tax lifetimes planning and how savings can be achieved with expert help. William was also able to banish some of the many myths that surround Inheritance Tax!

Kalpa Prajapati (Solicitor) explained why everyone should invest in a Lasting Power of Attorney, to cover the scenario where one is no longer able to deal with their own property and financial affairs and/ or health and welfare.

Rose Walker (Legal Executive) addressed the issue of what to do if a Lasting Power of Attorney has not been made and mental capacity has been lost- essentially, an application must be made to the Court of Protection for a Deputyship Order. Rose also explained the Intestacy Rules, and the importance of making a valid Will to provide for and protect one’s loved ones.

Ian Starkey (Independent Financial Adviser) of Grant Saw Wealth Management Limited discussed lifetime Inheritance Tax planning and how to get it right. The Company offers a full wealth management and financial planning service including fully independent advice on such matters as insurance products, pensions, savings and mortgages. Please contact Ian directly on 020 3417 9760 for his advice.
