Grant Saw Solicitors are proud sponsors of Blackheath Rugby Club and we were delighted to be the guests of honour at the last match of the season against Flyde.
Blackheath gave themselves a good start as Dave Allen drove across for his 13th try of the season. Fylde, however, looked to keep up the pressure at every opportunity, and a move which started with scrum ball on their own goal-line, and continued with a tap and go penalty in Club territory, ended with giving the visitors a 12-5 lead in the first half.
Two kickable penalties were snubbed by the hosts, so it was with some relief that Ollie Lyons pushed for Blackheath’s second try, bringing the scores level but, after the break, two penalties re-took the lead for Fylde as their forward dominance took hold.
Although unfortunately Blackheath lost the match, they put up a tremendous fight. The final score was Blackheath 12 Fylde 32.
The Partners presented the award for “man of the match” to Dave Allen, who had recovered from injury to join in his final competitive game of rugby, which was a very well deserved award.
We would like to give a special thank you to Blackheath Rugby Club who made us feel very welcome.
We are looking forward to the new Season, where we hope Blackheath will go from strength to strength and we will continue our support of this long established rugby club.
