Making a Will is an important step in ensuring your wishes are carried out and that those close to you are properly provided for. At Grant Saw Solicitors, our experienced Private Client team offers clear, practical advice and a straightforward approach to writing a Will.
We prepare bespoke Wills, tailored to your individual circumstances, taking the time to understand what matters to you. We advise on straightforward Wills as well as more complex arrangements where appropriate.
Our approach to preparing your Will
We aim to make the process of writing a Will as simple and convenient as possible.
We can take your instructions at one of our offices, by telephone, or by email. If it is easier, we can also meet you at home. In urgent situations, we are able to attend clients in hospital.
Once we have discussed your wishes, we will prepare a draft Will for your review. You will have the opportunity to consider the wording carefully and request any amendments before the Will is finalised and signed.
We are usually asked to store original Wills securely at our firm, which we do at no additional cost. We will also provide you with a signed copy for your records.
How long does it take to write a Will?
In a straightforward case, a Will can usually be prepared and signed within around one – two weeks of taking instructions. Where there is urgency, it is often possible to complete matters within a few working days.
Costs
We are usually able to offer a fixed‑fee service for the preparation of Wills, so you have clarity on costs from the outset.

What should I think about before contacting you?
Before your initial discussion, it may be helpful to consider:
- Who you would like to appoint as your executors
- Whether you need to appoint guardians for any children under 18
- Who you would like to benefit under your Will
- Any specific gifts you wish to make
- A broad indication of the value of your assets
