You will draft and review family law documentation, prepare court applications and disclosure, manage hearing preparation, and represent clients during negotiations, mediation and court proceedings where appropriate. Business development

You will play an active role in developing the profile and client base of the Family Department. This may include attending networking events, building relationships with professional referrers, contributing to seminars and articles, and supporting the firm’s wider marketing and business development activities.

The successful candidate will be commercially aware, comfortable working towards agreed fee targets and KPIs, and committed to accurate time recording, timely billing and effective cost management.

About you

You will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor of England and Wales, or a suitably qualified Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
  • The holder of a current practising certificate without restrictions
  • An experienced family law practitioner who can independently manage a varied caseload
  • Technically confident in divorce, financial remedy, private children and domestic abuse matters
  • An excellent communicator, negotiator and legal drafter
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively

Experience of business development, supervising or mentoring junior colleagues, and using legal case management systems such as Tikit, P4W or an equivalent platform would be advantageous.

Compliance and professional standards

You will be expected to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and comply with SRA requirements, Family Procedure Rules, AML and data protection obligations, and the firm’s Lexcel-accredited policies and procedures. You will also be confident in identifying and managing safeguarding concerns, domestic abuse risks and urgent welfare issues.
